while searching for a cause of my breakouts, I ran
across this from James E. Fulton, Jr. M.D., Ph.D. in “The Doctors
Book of Home Remedies”, page 4, copywright 1990.
“Iodine is a factor in some people who are prone to acne.”
Well, I couldn’t avoid all of the Food/Beverages listed on the page
so I only eliminated the iodized salt and I had found the cause of
my breakouts. My acne began clearing pretty much immediatedly.
But this isn’t nearly as easy as it may seem. It’s everywhere. I
changed out all the salt shakers in my home but then would have
dinner at a friends home and would have to check their pantry to see
if they were using “Plain Salt” or “Iodized Salt”. I’m getting off
on a sharp tangent here so I’ll shorten it and hope you can follow
and read between the lines.
I won’t eat my friends’ deviled eggs, potato salad, purged and
boiled crawfish, or the mashed potatoes from one of my favorite
restaurants (I found out the cook was adding iodized salt after it
was cooked. What right does a frycook have to medicate me?). I’ve
had outbreaks consistently after each of these events, which were
several months apart, and then spend several months waiting for
those original outbreaks to clear. BTW I can eat all of those things
listed if I’m sure the only thing not used is the iodized salt.
Read the labels! Multi-vitamins. Soap. Prepared foods. Etc.
Carry your own “Plain Salt” to restaurants.
I see no point in telling Dr. Fulton he was right on track since I
believe it was he that invented Accutane. Would you slaughter your
cashcow?
Anyway I could spend several more hours here relating stories. Maybe
some of you will find benefit from what I have learned.
Be Well!
