I’ve just found this site and I’ve so far found it extremely helpful. I’ve been on a combination of antibiotics and the
contraceptive ill for years to help beat acne, however once stopping the treatment, it just returns again with a vengence!!
I’m trying for a baby and I want to be careful with medication. My Doctor prescribed me 2000mg per day of Erthymycin (unsure of spelling) 2 weeks ago. However I’m not sure if this will work. How long does it take to work?
I get a combination of whiteheads/blackheads and large spots filled with pus. Is there any topical solutions I can apply to help? Can you please offer me any suggestions?
Also, I’m using natural progestrone cream to help infertility and balance my hormones. Can this affect my acne?
I would appreciate any suggestions?

My daughter has been on accutane twice. I’m assuming this is the same as accutane. The first time (14 yrs. old) it cleared up beautifully. Then, 10 yrs. later, the problem returned. She went back on accutane to be rewarded with vicious headaches. Since possible stroke is one of the side effects she obviously stopped taking the medication.
She now has adult acne that seems resistant to everything. The only thing not tried is light therapy. Anyone have experience with this?

It has been some time now since I posted but I am really happy to say that I have managed to get funding for my facial acne scarring
to be treated with laser resurfacing. It was a real ordeal that took about eight months or so, five committees sat to assess my case
and I had to see a liaison psychiatrist twice for him to assess whether I had been adversely affected by this.
I have heard varying reports about the success of laser treatment, I guess that the response can be quite variable from one person to the
next. Anyway at least I have a shot at it now and will post about my results when it happens, which won’t be any time soon as it all
takes a long time to get through the system.

I’m a writer who is working on a story for a women’s magazine about natural remedies for adult acne. I’m
seeking a real-life success story to feature in my article and was wondering if you would post my request
to your group. The person I am looking for should meet the following criteria:
-Female (35-55 years old)
- Has successfully treated her acne with a natural
remedy
- Willing to provide before and after pictures for
consideration and possible use in story
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or require any further information.

I was wondering if anyone knew a good way of getting rid of acne related scars? I dont have much of an acne problem, thanks to
some really freakin awasome vitamins I’ve been taking for a few months (if anyone is interested, check em out, I’ll leave the website page.)
But please, if someone knows of a way, other than just laser surgery, I’d very much appreciate it! I hope everyone had a good memorial da!

while searching for a cause of my breakouts, I ran
across this from James E. Fulton, Jr. M.D., Ph.D. in “The Doctors
Book of Home Remedies”, page 4, copywright 1990.
“Iodine is a factor in some people who are prone to acne.”
Well, I couldn’t avoid all of the Food/Beverages listed on the page
so I only eliminated the iodized salt and I had found the cause of
my breakouts. My acne began clearing pretty much immediatedly.
But this isn’t nearly as easy as it may seem. It’s everywhere. I
changed out all the salt shakers in my home but then would have
dinner at a friends home and would have to check their pantry to see
if they were using “Plain Salt” or “Iodized Salt”. I’m getting off
on a sharp tangent here so I’ll shorten it and hope you can follow
and read between the lines.
I won’t eat my friends’ deviled eggs, potato salad, purged and
boiled crawfish, or the mashed potatoes from one of my favorite
restaurants (I found out the cook was adding iodized salt after it
was cooked. What right does a frycook have to medicate me?). I’ve
had outbreaks consistently after each of these events, which were
several months apart, and then spend several months waiting for
those original outbreaks to clear. BTW I can eat all of those things
listed if I’m sure the only thing not used is the iodized salt.
Read the labels! Multi-vitamins. Soap. Prepared foods. Etc.
Carry your own “Plain Salt” to restaurants.
I see no point in telling Dr. Fulton he was right on track since I
believe it was he that invented Accutane. Would you slaughter your
cashcow?
Anyway I could spend several more hours here relating stories. Maybe
some of you will find benefit from what I have learned.
Be Well!
Elaine
